The Bop-It is a toy that many of us will know from childhood, and you either love it, hate it, or used it to beat your siblings around the head with it. The plastic device shouts out various commands which you have to respond to by manipulating it in a given manner. It’s one of those gadgets that was so ubiquitous it felt like everyone knew how to Bop-It: a rainy day pleasure.

And now an enterprising streamer has taken the Bop-It to new heights. “I can’t believe I just beat Margit with a fucking Bop-It dude,” laughs Swoop Douglas as the demigod falls, “no way!”

Yes: You’ve seen Elden Ring conquered with one hand and dance mats, and one player even beat the game without attacking. Now it’s time for FromSoftware’s grandiose collection of demigods and fallen heroes to get bopped via the medium of the Bop-It Extreme 2. This is probably the most well-known variant of the toy, released in 2002, and features the original three commands (“Pull It!”/”Twist It!”/”Bop It!”) alongside the addition of “Flick It!” and “Spin It!”

I imagine that, like me, you have one question: Why a Bop-It? “I’ve been playing Souls games for thousands of hours and wanted a fresh/unique challe…

From the beginning of November this year, Paint 3D will be no more, as Microsoft plans to remove it from the eponymous Store and stop updating it altogether. Once heralded as a modernised version of Paint we all deserved, the rapid decline in interest and use meant that it was only a matter of time before the inevitable would happen.

It might seem a little hard to believe but Microsoft’s Paint app has been part and parcel of every version of Windows, making it almost four decades old. However, in 2017 with the Windows 10 Creators Update, Microsoft thought we could all do with a better version and gave us Paint 3D, with the main feature set being its support for 3D models and rendering.

But as Windows Central reports, despite having some genuinely good features, time is being called on the seven-year-old app and after November 4 2024, you won’t be able to download it from Microsoft Store, nor will it ever receive any future updates.

To be honest, the news shouldn’t come as any surprise, especially given that Microsoft itself has been rather keen on Paint of late, updating it with a background removal tool and a generative AI system last year, to name just a fe…

Any thought that Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney might quit while he was ahead in his long-running disputes with Apple and Google went out the window earlier this week when Epic sued Google, again, and took a swing (figuratively, of course) at Samsung for good measure. Reinforcing that point, Sweeney said at the Unreal Fest in Seattle yesterday that he has no intention of easing up until Epic has claimed a clear-cut victory against everyone.

It’s been four years since Epic first picked a fight with Apple over alleged “anti-competitive restraints and monopolistic practices,” after which it quickly followed up with similar action against Google. Subsequent years of legal wrangling have seen some unexpected wins for Epic: A jury sided with Epic over Google in 2023, finding that Google “wilfully acquired or maintained monopoly power by engaging in anticompetitive conduct,” while new regulations in the European Union requires Apple to allow third-party marketplaces on iOS devices.

Epic hasn’t been entirely satisfied with the results, however. In August, Sweeney accused Apple of “malicious compliance” with the EU’s Digital Markets Act, saying Apple has made the process of ins…
